![]() In one, I had another character go from full to dead from random events that did DID include bandits (but they were the "Give us literally everything" bandits, so I couldn't say yes to their demands). 3 of the 4 others ALSO ended directly as a consequence of me losing my car for the first time that game. I played 5 total games today, all ended in failure. My point with this post wasn't "I don't know how to keep my car!" It was "If I don't do literally everything I can to literally never lose my car, I'm almost guarenteed a game over."Ĭase in point. I'm saying that if you do NOT have that sort of character, you're run is VERY likely to end VERY quickly AND that if anything happens to that character, you're done. Yeah, I know HOW to keep the car as long as possible. Hopefully this part can be expanded a bit to make losing your car a tiny bit less hostile. Everytime I lose my car I feel like the run is over, and about 90% of the time I'm right. Basically, reward the player for spending the time (and, often, food) to train his team so that IF you don't have the worlds best mechanic AND you don't run into a never ending supply of gas you can still manage to survive okay until you get to a new car.Īnyway, just my two cents on the issue. ![]() Instead of ants chewing everyone to death, your high Strength guy squashes them all. Instead of facing bandits, your high Fitness guy leads them away. Instead of getting lost, your high medical guy finds a bunch of edible mushrooms. Just dead dead dead (one of which was the "fall out of a tree while looking around thing, which, really? Max Fitness and I can't climb a tree?). I had a guy with max Strength, max Shooting, and max Fitness die from three random encounters in a row, none of them Bandit related. Once you're out of your car, your skills matter a lot less. That last one I think is the biggest thing. Making it where you can only get 1 event with a high chance of harm per day, allowing you to heal while walking at the same rate as in the car, and giving high skill characters (of all skill types EXCEPT mechanic) new events that helps speed up getting a new car/avoiding bad events and making them good instead. I think some small changes to the way that losing your car works would go a long way to removing what is one of the only really unfun aspects of this game. It's the #1 resource, but a LARGE margin, simply because running out is a death sentance. And I always, 100% go for ANY situation that might get me gas. ![]() But it's not JUST bad, it's more or less "instant lose." I basically ALWAYS have one of my two people start off with Car Nut if I'm doing a run where I want to win, because it's so important to never (or almost never) have your car break down/run out of gas. I get it, not having a car is supposed to be bad. I can't count the number of times a good run has gone from awesome to everyone's dead in a single lost car, entirely because of random events (aka not because I had people die while trying to get a new car or surviving a siege or what not). ![]()
